If you are in the Flinders Ranges area in South Australia, a visit to Alligator Gorge is highly recommended. Located with in the Mount Remarkable National Park this gorge gives you the opportunity to walk along rock faces dating back millions of years.
My visit was during a time of drought when rain falls had been few and far between. As I walked along there was this one spot filled with water from a distant rain fall. The mostly rocky ground had kept the water from seeping into the ground and the lack of direct sunlight due to the canopy of trees on the top kept it from evaporating. A welcome sight for all living creatures I am sure.
