The devastating effects of human greed has taken a toll on these majestic creatures, leaving them at near extinction today. Botswana's Khama Rhino Sanctuary, located only four hours from the capital city Gaborone is one of the very few places of refuge for Rhinos in Africa. Here the lucky few get to roam the land as they always did for thousands of years devoid from possible death at the hands of poachers.
The game rangers had told me of this water hole which becomes a hive of activity towards later afternoon when Rhinos and other animals congregate to get that last drink for the day before they settle into for the night. As I pulled up to a safe distance from the water hole this lone Rhino, having finished his drink, walked past me whilst his feathered friends caught a free ride.
